Explore the city of Lisbon and its many charms. Rich in history, monuments and many museums, we suggest you start in Belém, where the discoveries began. Known for its light, which inspire so many artists and poets, let yourself be immersed by all its beauty and get to know all corners and details of Lisbon with our self-guided tours or discover it with a help of our local hosts.
On your way to the city of Serpa, pass by Setúbal, Sines and Alcácer do Sal. In Setúbal, visit the historic center and the seaport. As those who visit Setubal can not remain indifferent to the Capuchin Convent, we suggest a small tour around the most emblematic points. The scenery will not disappoint you. Then, head south toward Alcacer do Sal, where you can visit the castle and the historic center, next to the Sado River. Finally, you will reach Serpa and one of the most characteristic products, the famous Serpa cheese. The walls of Serpa and Mina de São Domingos, are places worth visiting.
The day begins with a small trip to Mértola, also known as Village Museum, where on every corner you will find something fascinating to discover. Besides the history, there are customs and traditions so well preserved, as some traditional regional products: meat, bread, honey, goat and sheep cheeses, sausages, confectionery, weaving and fresh fish provided by the Guadiana river. Enjoy the landscapes of the Guadiana Valley Natural Park. End the day at Algarve region: the city of Faro. Visit the old town, which has the tradition of fishing and people who lived from sea. Here, you find not only a great historical legacy, but beautiful beaches as well. A wide range of beaches and islands that make Faro an unique european city. Almost as a bonus, you may have the privilege of find Ria Formosa on its full splendor.
The trip continues along the Algarve coast, with stops on the best beaches. Along the way, visit places of historical and cultural interest, which are abundant throughout the region, and taste some of the best fish and seafood dishes. The day ends in Portimão.
After reaching the westernmost part of Portugal, continue to the Vincentian coast. Follow the coast and you will find Sagres. Here are some of the Algarve’s most spectacular landscapes. The force of nature is so great, that soon you’ll realize why the first settlers called this region of “sacred”. Besides nature, you must visit the historical heritage, where the Portuguese explorers set off in the XV century. After Sagres, follow to the Vincentian coast towards Odeceixe, that will be your destination. Breathtaking landscapes will be your company during the trip.
The journey nears its end heading to Lisbon, passing Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, Porto Covo, Comporta and Tróia. Region of immense natural beauty, take your time to enjoy the stunning landscapes. In Tróia, cross the river Sado in a ferry boat, and you might be lucky enough to see the colony of dolphins inhabiting the river. On the way to Lisbon, make a stop at Palmela Castle and Christ the King in Almada, where you can have a single view over Lisbon.
