You will start leaving behind the city of Lisbon, entering a region dedicated to agriculture. The first stop is the town of Vila Franca de Xira, where you can enjoy the equestrian and taurine presence which is a constant in the region. The next stop is in Santarém, known as the Gothic capital due to the presence of many architectural features of this style. Then, follow to the capital of the Templars, the beautiful city of Tomar. It was here, in 1160, that began the construction of the headquarters of the Knights Templar in Portugal and, later on, the Order of Christ, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Following the course of the Tejo river, begin another day trip towards Abrantes, whose origins are lost in time. Due to its location on the Tejo river, the city had a great military importance. Visit the historical center, the castle and some of the various churches. Continue and go to the town of Castelo Branco. Visit the old Luís de Camões Square, current Old Square, admire the beautiful quilts and embroidered linen, made of natural silk yarn, and taste the typical rich and varied cuisine, always present on the table of the locals.
