Lisbon is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
In addition to the breathtaking views, that can be seen in each of its seven hills, the city maintains an environment already lost in many other European cities.
Our gaze is easily lost in the architectural details such as the tiles, in shades of blue, or the colored fronts that give life to the city streets. But it is also impossible to remain indifferent to the beauty and intensity of the light, brightening the city, and that inspires so many artists, poets and writers.
With the Tejo river by your side, you will find the ideal atmosphere for a real journey of cultural discovery.
Lisbon from A to Z is a vacation package for those who like to discover, but also to feel and experience a city in a deep and profound way.
Come discover Lisbon!
Arrival at Lisbon airport. Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Your journey starts at Baixa Pombalina, a place named for the Marquess of Pombal, who fully rebuilt the city after the 1755 earthquake. Modern to the standards of its time, the Baixa Pombalina has planned blocks and symmetrical streets, which were given names that pay tribute to the merchants who, traditionally kept their businesses there. Here, you can find city squares, museums, theatres and several century-old coffee shops as the Café Martinho da Arcada.
Day to discover one of the essential places in Lisbon: São Jorge Castle and Alfama neighborhood. The first goes back to the city’s foundation, Roman and Arab. The second refers to fado and walking in narrow lanes, so typical of Lisbon, with its people and clothes hanging in the windows.
This region maintains a close relationship with the Portuguese literature. Fernando Pessoa, the famous Portuguese writer, would not leave the tertulias of Café A Brasileira, a meeting place for bohemians and writers over a century ago. Here, you can find churches and viewpoints, described in many works of Portuguese writers.
Your itinerary leads you to Parque Eduardo VII, one of the largest of Lisbon. Follow to the Aqueduto das Águas Livres, an important and stately work of Portuguese engineering, built in the first half of the 18th century. In the Estrela neighborhood, visit the Basílica da Estrela and the Estrela Garden.
Apart from the city centre, this is the most visited region of Lisbon. Here, you will have direct contact with what is most representative of the navigation era. At that time, Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery were made, in the so-called Manueline style, the finest of Portuguese building. Both of them are very close to the Tejo river bank, from where the big ships went out to explore the world.
Until the early 1990, this was just a deserted, degraded industrial area, without much interest to the Portuguese people. Today, it is a modern place, with bold architecture buildings that have become a city landmark after the Expo 98, the international exhibition.
