As luck would have it, in 1836 on the property of Pedro António Rocha near Sintra, a new species of pear tree was identified whose fruit was of an exquisite quality.
From that point on that pear was known as the Rocha pear of the West. A long history of success of a fruit that nowadays is the ex libris of the whole region.

The activity takes place at a Rocha pear plantation where you’ll be given an explanation of the history, characteristics and distinctive quality of this marvellous fruit.
The participants will have the chance to help in the on-going chores at the farm (harvest period during the second half of August)
After learning the secrets of the Rocha pear, nothing better to refill our strengths than tasting some local regional sweets and liqueur.
