Land formerly producing great quality cloths, the production of wool in the Portalegre was an industry that guarantee the livelihood of many families … from pastoralism, including the treatment of wool, spinning to the finished product.

This trip to the history of the wool will lead us to the Real Wool Factory and several other places where plants were installed , so that in the end it understands the importance of wool for the entire region.
We begin with the Maple tree centennial is an integral part of the history of the city , with a presentation on the wool in the region and some curiosities about as famous maple.
It follows a visit to the Royal Factory of Wool (which currently houses the Town Hall ) , where we will see some of the spaces on the Jesuit College . We will go up the street right then , right in the city historical center , where you will see various points of interest such as the Wool Factory Portalegre or where the factory was Andrade and Larcher , who was grinding mill and electric light.
Finally , an obligatory stop at the Museum of Tapestries , location essential to understand the history of the wool industry in the region.
