Coming from Geres, go to the town of Chaves. The trip takes you through an area of outstanding natural beauty, the highlands of Barroso, part of the Serra do Gerês. A mandatory stop is the town of Montalegre, home of an historic and picturesque setting. The traditional crafts, woodwork and embroidered linen are one of the many attractions of the region. Our destination is the roman town of Aquae Flaviae, now known as Chaves, named by the Romans because of its thermal waters. Chaves has plenty to see, visit and taste, namely its sausages and cured meats of high quality.
On the next day, travel from Chaves to Bragança where you will stay for the night. During the journey you will pass through the Natural Park of Montesinho, on your way to the city of Bragança. For your last day, you will stay in Guimarães. But first, stop in Vila Real, situated on the sides of the mighty mountains of Marão.
