Days to explore the city of Lisbon and its many boroughs. Rich in history, monuments and many museums, we suggest you start by the waterfront, along the Tagus River, where the ships set sail and opened the doors to the age of discoveries. Known by the light that inspired so many artists and poets, let yourself be involved by the beauty of the city and take time to participate in one of our cultural experiences or discover the city with our tours on the city and surroundings.
Trip to the north of Portugal. The first stop is Obidos, a medieval village full of history and charm, where time seems to have stopped. Don’t forget to taste the delicious cherry liqueur of Obidos! The journey continues along the Portuguese coast, first in Peniche and then Nazaré, where the American Garrett McNamara surfed one of the biggest waves in the world, nearly 24 meters tall. In the late afternoon, pass through Alcobaça and visit the magnificent Alcobaça Monastery. In the end of the day, you will spend the night at Batalha, next to its magnificent monument.
The trip continues to Fatima, a place of worship and pilgrimage for thousands of faithful from all over the world. Feel the religiosity of the Portuguese people. Next, in Leiria, you can visit its castle and some of the various museums. Enjoy and taste the wonderful cuisine that exists in the region, where cod has a key role. In the afternoon, continue the journey to Coimbra, where you can visit the remains of the ancient Roman city of Conímbriga. Also visit the University of Coimbra and its library. On your way to Oporto, we suggest a stop in the city of Aveiro, where you can indulge yourself with the regional sweet “doce de ovos moles”. The day ends next to Douro River, Oporto.
Explore the city and its multiple treasures. Known for its wine, Port wine, we strongly suggest a visit to the wine cellars, where you’ll get the chance to discover the secrets of the majestic Port wines. Take also the time to visit some of the many museums and cultural places of the city, and why not enjoy a cruise down the Douro river. Oporto is not only synonym of tradition, but also a city where you can assist to some of the most contemporary cultural events. Don’t miss out the House of Music (Casa da Música) or the Serralves Museum. You can also do one of our tours in Oporto and its surroundings.
Towards north, the first stop is in the city of Guimarães. birthplace of Portugal. Here you can visit the Castle of Guimarães, the Palace of the Dukes and the old town, which is a true historical and cultural treasure. The day begins with history but ends in the middle of nature, bound to the Peneda Geres National Park. Area of unusual natural beauty, take time to discover places still preserved. Why not take a walk, a body treatment in an spa or simply enjoy the calm that Geres provides.
Begin the descent towards the south of Portugal. During the morning, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Gerês and then, go to the town of Vila Real. Situated on the banks of the mighty mountains of Marão, this city is connected with the history of Portugal and agriculture, where the wine takes on a prominent role. Be sure to visit the Mateus Palace, as seen on the labels of the famous Mateus Rosé wine. You can also visit some vineyards on the slopes of the Douro, recommended in early autumn. The day ends in a place of rare beauty, in the Douro Valley region: the town of Peso da Régua.

Leaving the northern region, start the discovery of the central region of Portugal, home of the highest peak in Portugal: the Serra da Estrela. The first stopping point is Castro Daire, where you can visit the Mother Church and the Municipal Museum. Famous for its velvety red wines, Viseu will enchant you with its popular festivals, countryside and many cultural treasures. The end of the day will be in Manteigas ,with its privileged and unique location in the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela, whose natural, ecological and landscape conditions, dazzle all visitors.
Continue towards south. After a brief stop to visit the castle of Belmonte, follow your journey toward the village of Monsanto, said to be the most Portuguese village in Portugal and one of the most picturesque place of the country. Next, the city of Castelo Branco, internationally known for its hand made embroidered quilts, wine, olive oil and renowned cheese. The next stop is already in the Alentejo region, Nisa. In addition to the famous cheese, Nisa is also famous for traditional red clay pottery, bobbin and stitched laces. The day ends in Portalegre, a city linked to the cork and textiles. Enjoy visiting one of the largest and oldest plane trees in Europe and some of the many museums.
Follow on to Evora, through Monforte, where you can enjoy the historic heritage or visit the Municipal Museum. Then, head to the town of Estremoz, and visit the castle and the town center. Enjoy some popular artists working with clay to create the famous puppets of Estremoz. The next stop is Vila Viçosa, quarrying land also known as “white gold”. Here, you can visit several monuments where marble is a constant presence. Finally, arrive at the city of Évora, Patrimony of Humanity and the meeting point of many cultural influences and stories. From its patrimony to the very existence of the city and its excellent cuisine, there are many good reasons to enjoy the city of Évora.
Departure to the village of Mértola, to discover the signs of Arab presence in the Iberian Peninsula. Take the day to enjoy the beautiful Alentejo plains. The first stop will be the city of Beja, built by the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. Further south, you’ll reach Serpa, home of the famous Serpa cheese. The wall of Serpa and Mina de São Domingos are mandatory places to stop at. In the late afternoon, depart towards Mértola, also known as village museum, where every corner has something fascinating to discover.
On this day, reach the most southern point of Portugal, the Algarve region. Travel to Portimão along the Algarve coast, enjoying some of the best beach landscapes in Portugal. Rich food and lush nature, are the ingredients that will lead you to end the day, in the city of Portimão.
Departure towards Sagres, and find exuberant landscapes. The force of nature is so great, you’ll see why early settlers dubbed it “sacred area”. Apart from nature, visit the historical heritage, the point where Portuguese explorers set off to discover the world, in the fifteenth century. After Sagres, go north by the Vincentian coast toward São Teotónio, your final destination of the day. Breathtaking landscapes are a constant in this part of the Portuguese coast.

Follow to Setúbal passing through Vila Nova de Mil Fontes, Porto Covo, Comporta and Troia. A region with an immense natural beauty, take your time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Take the ferry across the river Sado, from Troia to Setubal, and maybe you will get the chance to see the colony dolphins that inhabit the river. Your day ends in Setúbal, a city intimately linked to its fishing port, excellent cuisine and a rich historical heritage.
Head to Azeitão through the Arrabida hills and admire the views on the Atlantic Ocean. The nature of the region is lush and produces some of the best products, such as Moscatel wine, the famous cheeses of Azeitão and the delicious tarts of Azeitão. Finally, we suggest a visit to the Castle of Palmela on your way back to Lisbon. Make a stop at the Cristo Rei, where you can see the city of Lisbon from across the Tagus River.
